Palmeiras Draw Santos to Reach Copa do Brasil Semifinals

Palmeiras secured a place in the semifinals of the 2026 Copa do Brasil with a goalless draw against Santos. The result completed a 3-0 aggregate victory after Palmeiras won the first leg at home with two goals from José López and another from Andreas Pereira.

Santos needed to overturn that deficit, but Palmeiras held firm in the return match. The São Paulo side, coached by Abel Ferreira, now moves on to face Vasco da Gama, who eliminated Olimpia in the Copa Sudamericana.

Of Palmeiras’ Paraguayan players, only Mauricio took part. The forward started and played the entire match. Captain Gustavo Gómez watched from the substitutes’ bench without entering, while Ramón Sosa was left out of the squad because of injury. Santos’ Gustavo Caballero also remained on the bench.

Palmeiras continue their pursuit of three competitions: Serie A, the Copa do Brasil and the Copa Libertadores. Palmeiras, Vasco and Atlético Mineiro have already reached the semifinals. The remaining place will go to either Internacional, featuring Antonio Sanabria, or Grêmio, featuring Mathías Villasanti, after their second leg at the Arena do Grêmio.
