Pamulang School Parents Urge Restraint in Land Dispute with UIN Jakarta

Parents of students at an elementary and kindergarten in Pamulang, Tangerang Selatan, are pleading for calm amidst a land ownership dispute between the school foundation and UIN Jakarta. They are urging both parties to await a final court ruling to prevent further disruption to their children's education.

Dedi Setiawan, a parent, stated that the parents' primary concern is the continuity of learning. "If the perspective of the parents is, we ask both parties in dispute, in this case the foundation, to be able to restrain themselves until a valid legal decision is obtained," he said. He added that parents would accept whoever is legally determined to manage the school.

However, parents are adamant that the conflict should not spill into the school environment again. They have warned against any actions that could cause unrest or disturb students and teachers. "But don't let events like yesterday happen again," Dedi urged, emphasizing that parents are prepared to take legal action, including demanding material and non-material compensation, if disturbances recur.

An agreement has been reached among parents, stipulating that both the foundation and UIN Jakarta must ensure that teaching and learning activities proceed smoothly. This includes maintaining the current principal, teachers, curriculum, security, and all staff. Parents reserve the right to take action against the foundation if any intervention impacts these arrangements.
