Panama Canal to Temporarily Suspend Water Service at Miraflores Plant Friday

The Panama Canal Authority has announced a temporary suspension of water service from the Miraflores treatment plant this Friday, August 28. The interruption is scheduled to occur between 8:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m.

During this four-hour window, direct pumping to the western area of the Miraflores plant, which includes Residential El Tucán, Panama Pacífico, and Veracruz, will be halted. Additionally, the pumping line supplying Arraiján cabecera will also be temporarily suspended.

The authority stated that these are preventive and priority maintenance tasks. The objective is to guarantee the greatest possible continuity of the potable water service supplied by the Miraflores plant. Systems that receive water from storage tanks in Albrook, Ancón, Cárdenas, El Chorrillo, Paraíso, and Gamboa will continue to receive service. The continuity in these areas will depend on tank levels and consumption patterns during the maintenance period.

The Panama Canal Authority has requested the understanding of users during these evaluations, emphasizing that they are part of ongoing efforts to maintain the reliability, safety, and continuity of the potable water supply. This measure is part of a series of preventive actions to ensure the smooth operation of the water system.
