Panama edges Nicaragua 1-0 in baseball at 2026 Central American Games

Panama secured a narrow 1-0 victory over Nicaragua in a tightly contested baseball match at the XXV Central American and Caribbean Games in Santo Domingo 2026. The win marks Panama's second consecutive triumph in the tournament.

The decisive moment came in the bottom of the seventh inning when Joshwan Wright stepped up to the plate with runners on first and second base and one out. Wright delivered a clutch single, allowing Jael Escobar to score the game's only run and secure the win for Panama.

Panama's pitcher Darío Agrazal was credited with the win, throwing a complete seven-inning game. He allowed three hits and struck out two batters. Nicaragua's Keny de Jesús Cruz took the loss, giving up two hits and one run over six innings while striking out four and walking two. Eliean Miranda had two hits for Nicaragua, while Benjamín Alegría added one.

Panama's next game is scheduled for Sunday, August 2, against Colombia at 9:00 a.m. The team has already secured a victory against Mexico earlier in the tournament.
