Panama expresses solidarity with Canada and Spain over devastating wildfires

Panama has voiced its support for Canada and Spain as they confront severe wildfires, extending condolences for human losses and solidarity with the impacted communities. The Central American nation acknowledged the efforts of firefighters, emergency teams, and volunteers working to protect lives and ecosystems.

In its statement, Panama highlighted the importance of strengthening international cooperation and capabilities for preventing, responding to, and mitigating the effects of extreme climate phenomena. The Panamanian government conveyed its best wishes for the swift recovery of the affected regions, expressing confidence in Canada's ability to overcome the emergency through solidarity and collaborative work.

Separately, Panama sent condolences to the Kingdom of Spain for the human toll caused by wildfires affecting Andalusia, particularly in the province of Almería. The Executive branch expressed its closeness to the victims' families and solidarity with those injured, missing, and displaced. It also wished success to the emergency and civil protection teams in their efforts to control the fires and safeguard lives.

Panama also extended condolences to the governments and peoples of other countries whose citizens died in the tragedy, especially the families of foreign victims present in the affected areas. In both messages, the Panamanian government stressed that the increasing intensity and frequency of extreme climate events underscore the necessity of reinforcing prevention, resilience, international cooperation, and solidarity among nations to combat the impacts of climate change.
