Panama forecasts rain and thunderstorms across several regions

Rain and thunderstorms are expected across Panama from the early hours of Monday, with possible wind gusts during storms, according to the Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology of Panama.

On the Caribbean side, showers could move from maritime areas toward the coasts and mainland of Guna Yala and Colón during the early morning and morning. Bocas del Toro and the Ngäbe Buglé region have the highest probability of rain. Afternoon showers are expected to be most frequent in Colón, western Guna Yala and Bocas del Toro.

On the Pacific side, storms in the Gulf of Panama could reach Darién, eastern and central Panama, Panama Oeste and the southeastern Azuero Peninsula. Morning rain is also possible in the highlands of Chiriquí. In the afternoon, moderate to heavy scattered showers are forecast for Coclé, central Veraguas, Darién and the Emberá regions, while the metropolitan area has the highest overall probability of precipitation.

Rain and showers could continue in other Pacific areas until early evening. After that, both coasts are expected to see partly cloudy skies without significant rain. Minimum temperatures will range from 21 C to 24.5 C, while maximum temperatures will reach 28 C to 31.5 C. Mountain areas will be cooler. Winds could reach 15 kilometers per hour before shifting toward the northwest and north, generally staying below 20 kilometers per hour except for storm gusts. Caribbean waves are expected at 0.7 to 1.2 meters and Pacific waves at 0.6 to 1.2 meters.
