Panama Names 218 Athletes for Santo Domingo 2026 Games; Judo and Wrestling Stars to Carry Flag

Panama is set to participate in the 25th Central American and Caribbean Games in Santo Domingo 2026 with a substantial delegation. A total of 218 athletes will represent the nation, supported by a team of 70 coaches, 19 specialists from the Panamanian Olympic Committee's multidisciplinary team, six communications professionals, and five mission staff. Their collective goal is to achieve excellence and proudly display Panama's flag.

The Panamanian contingent will compete across 27 sports, engaging in 39 disciplines and 139 different events. This broad participation reflects the extensive preparation and competitive spirit characteristic of Panamanian sports. The games are scheduled to take place from July 24 to August 8 in various venues across the Dominican Republic, offering a platform for Panamanian athletes to make their mark on regional sporting history.

Leading the delegation into the opening ceremony will be flag bearers Némesis Candelo, a prominent figure in national judo, and Ángel Cortés, a distinguished Panamanian wrestler. Their selection occurred during an Extraordinary General Assembly, where they received unanimous support to carry Panama's colors at the forefront of the event. The delegation's participation underscores Panama's commitment to athletic achievement and international competition.
