Panama names preliminary squad for U18 Baseball Americas Championship

Panama has revealed its preliminary 30-player roster for the U18 Baseball Americas Championship, set to take place from October 22 to 29 in the Dominican Republic. This crucial tournament serves as a qualifier for the 2027 U18 Baseball World Cup, with 12 national teams expected to compete.

The squad, announced by the Panamanian Baseball Federation, includes players with experience from the 2025 U18 World Cup in Japan and emerging talents from the recent 2026 national youth championship. The team will be led by manager Rodrigo Merón, who has been appointed to guide the squad through this qualifying process.

Panama has been placed in Group C, facing strong competition from Puerto Rico, Colombia, and Nicaragua. As part of their preparation, the team recently participated in the U23 National Baseball Championship, playing a total of 14 games. This experience is expected to help them refine their strategies and player combinations before the main event.

The tournament, officially the XVI Pan American Championship / U18 Pre-World Championship of WBSC Americas, will be held at the IPL Academy facilities. The event is organized by WBSC Americas with the local support of the Dominican Baseball Federation (FEDOM).
