Panama police temporarily suspend background check service for system maintenance

Panama's National Police Judicial Investigation Directorate (DIJ) announced a temporary halt to its personal background certificate service, commonly known as the "récord policivo." The suspension is due to ongoing maintenance work on the data distribution systems.

Both the digital platform and in-person window services are affected. This means citizens cannot obtain the document until the technical work is completed. The DIJ expressed gratitude for public understanding regarding the inconvenience and promised timely updates on service restoration through official channels.

The "récord policivo," officially the Certificate of Personal Background in Panama, is issued by the DIJ and verifies if an individual has a criminal record. It is frequently requested for job applications, particularly in public institutions and private companies, as well as for certain immigration procedures, participation in bids, and other legal requirements. It is important to note that this certificate only reflects criminal record information managed by the DIJ and does not substitute other judicial documents.
