Panama's President arrives in Peru for Fujimori's inauguration

Panama's President José Raúl Mulino arrived in Lima on Monday to attend the official inauguration ceremony for Peru's President-elect Keiko Fujimori, scheduled for Tuesday. Mulino's visit marks his participation in the transfer of power for the 2026-2031 term.

Upon arrival at the military airbase near Lima's Jorge Chávez International Airport, Mulino was received by Peru's Minister of Production, César Quispe, along with other officials and an honor guard. He is set to attend a reception hosted by Peru's interim president, José María Balcázar, and a state dinner at the Government Palace in Lima's historic center.

The Panamanian president will join a distinguished group of international leaders at Fujimori's swearing-in ceremony in Congress. Attendees include the presidents of Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Ecuador, Paraguay, and Uruguay. Spain's King Felipe VI, Popular Party leader Alberto Núñez Feijóo, and several right-wing former Latin American presidents have also been invited.

Notable former presidents attending include Ecuador's Jamil Mahuad, who signed peace accords with Fujimori's father, Alberto Fujimori, ending a border conflict. Also present will be former presidents Jeanine Áñez of Bolivia, Mireya Moscoso of Panama, Mario Abdo Benítez of Paraguay, and Eduardo Frei Ruiz-Tagle of Chile, all of whom served during or around the time of Alberto Fujimori's presidency.
