Panama Soccer Team Arrives in Rio for Friendly Against Brazil

Panama's national soccer team has settled into its hotel in Rio de Janeiro ahead of a friendly match against Brazil on Sunday, May 31. The team arrived early Friday morning after a seven-hour flight from Panama City.

Twenty-three players traveled from Panama after their final training session. Goalkeepers Jiovany Ramos, Kadir Barría, and Jorge Gutiérrez have since joined the squad at the hotel. With their arrival, the team now has 26 players available for their first training session in Brazil. This practice will take place at the Moacyr Barbosa training center, facilities of the Vasco de Gama club, and the first 15 minutes will be open to media.

The match against Brazil is the "Canarinha's" farewell game. Kickoff is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. local time on Sunday. Meanwhile, goalkeeper John Gunn has been called up by coach Thomas Christiansen as a late addition. Gunn will join the team tonight, serving as an option for the friendlies against Brazil and the Dominican Republic. This call-up comes as goalkeeper Luis Mejía is undergoing differentiated work with the physiotherapy team in Panama City due to an unspecified issue.
