Panama Weather: Rain, Storms, and Extreme UV Radiation Expected Saturday

Panama is bracing for a day of unsettled weather on Saturday, July 25, with the Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology of Panama (Imhpa) forecasting unstable atmospheric conditions. Residents can expect rain, thunderstorms, and extremely high levels of UV radiation throughout the country.

In the Caribbean region, the morning hours will see scattered to cloudy skies with intermittent light rains in areas like the Ngäbe-Buglé comarca, northern Veraguas, Colón, and Bocas del Toro. By afternoon and evening, cloudiness is expected to increase, bringing intermittent rain and isolated showers accompanied by electrical activity to parts of Guna Yala, Ngäbe-Buglé, Colón, northern Veraguas, and Bocas del Toro.

For the Pacific coast, the morning forecast indicates scattered to cloudy skies with isolated light rains in the Highlands and the Gulf of Chiriquí. Cloud cover will build in the afternoon and evening, leading to isolated showers and electrical activity across Panama Norte, Oeste, Este, the Gulf of Panama, Darién, southern Veraguas, Azuero, and Chiriquí. Temperatures will range from lows of 20°C to 25°C and highs between 29°C and 34°C.

Seas in the Caribbean are expected to be favorable for activities, with waves up to 1.21 meters. However, the Pacific coast remains under a warning for winds, waves, and rip currents, with waves reaching up to 0.91 meters. Imhpa has also issued a vigilance advisory for the Pacific coast until July 27 due to persistent conditions favorable for rain and storms. Additionally, UV-B radiation levels are predicted to be very high to extreme, prompting recommendations to limit sun exposure and use protective measures.
