Panathinaikos Nears Deal for Leicester's Victor Kristiansen

Panathinaikos is nearing an agreement with Leicester City for the transfer of Danish left-back Victor Kristiansen, marking a significant development in the club's pursuit of the player.

Initially, Leicester City appeared resistant to Panathinaikos's proposed deal, which centered on a loan with an option to buy. However, their position changed on the evening of July 9, prompting discussions about the Greek club's terms and advancing the transfer process considerably.

Kristiansen himself has played a crucial role in facilitating the move. The Danish defender has clearly expressed his strong desire to join Panathinaikos, actively contributing to opening the path for his transfer to Athens.

Panathinaikos has structured the deal to mitigate risk. The option to purchase Kristiansen will only automatically activate if he plays at least 45 minutes in 50% of the team's matches. Before finalizing the agreement, Kristiansen will undergo not only standard medical examinations but also specialized tests in Italy due to injury concerns from the previous season.

Kristiansen is a preferred choice of coach Fatih Terim, who views him as an ideal solution for the left-back position. The club's management and technical director are working to fulfill the coach's wish while incorporating necessary safeguards. If Kristiansen does not fully recover his previous form, he may not meet the participation threshold, and the purchase option will not be triggered, allowing Panathinaikos to seek alternatives in the January transfer window.
