The interest was revealed by prominent Romanian agent Giovanni Becali. He stated that Baldini contacted him for details on a specific player, though Becali did not disclose the footballer's name. The situation has gained further intrigue as Becali also mentioned that Ajax has inquired about the same player.

Becali shared his conversation with Baldini, noting, "Franco Baldini is now the general manager of Panathinaikos. I didn't even know he had gone there. He called me seven days ago and asked if I was still... alive. We talked about a specific player." Following Baldini's inquiry, Ajax's Jordi Cruyff also reportedly contacted Becali for more information.

While the player's identity is currently unknown, the simultaneous interest from Panathinaikos and Ajax suggests he is a talent beginning to draw significant attention from clubs outside of Romania.
