Pancasila Must Become Character, Not Just Memorization, Says Ideology Agency Head

The head of Indonesia's Pancasila Ideology Development Agency (BPIP), Yudian Wahyudi, stressed that the nation's founding ideology, Pancasila, must be more than just memorized lessons. He asserted that Pancasila needs to be embodied as character and a living culture, particularly among the youth.

Wahyudi delivered these remarks during a Pancasila Ideology Development event in Jambi city, attended by educators and local officials. He highlighted that Indonesia faces challenges not only in economics, politics, and technology but also in ideological resilience, which underpins national unity. "A great nation is built not only on economic strength and technological advancement but also on a strong ideology," Wahyudi stated, emphasizing Pancasila as the foundation of Indonesia's diversity.

He urged the younger generation to be pioneers in living Pancasila values through their actions, transforming the text into character and culture. Wahyudi cautioned against ceremonial approaches to ideological development, advocating instead for the internalization of Pancasila through mindset, attitude, and behavior in daily life. "When the younger generation can internalize these values in their daily lives, they will become the main fortress of national unity and the driving force for Indonesia towards Golden Indonesia 2045," he said.

The BPIP head called for collaboration among government, education, community leaders, youth organizations, and families to strengthen ideological understanding. Jambi's Deputy Governor, Abdullah Sani, pledged provincial support for BPIP's programs, viewing Pancasila as a vital, time-tested bond for the nation. Jambi Mayor Maulana also affirmed local government readiness to support character development through Pancasila values.
