Papua New Guinea Welcomes New Citizens, Minister Stresses Responsibilities

Minister for Immigration and Border Security William Bando marked a significant occasion in Papua New Guinea, celebrating the acquisition of citizenship by new nationals. The ceremony, held at the Hilton Hotel in Port Moresby, welcomed 20 individuals into the country as new citizens.

During the event, Minister Bando expressed gratitude for the opportunity to welcome these new members into the nation. He highlighted that alongside these 20 new citizens, seven other applicants were in the process of renouncing their Papua New Guinean citizenship to acquire that of a "prescribed country."

Today we have 27 recipients Of these 20 will become new citizens of Papua New Guinea, while 7 are applicants seeking to renounce PNG citizenship to acquire citizenship of a prescribed country.

Addressing the 20 new citizens, Bando extended his congratulations on their successful journey to acquiring citizenship. He underscored the importance of citizenship, stating that it is a privilege that carries inherent responsibilities. The minister's remarks emphasized the dual nature of this status, balancing rights with duties towards the nation.
