Parade, fair and national games: Batken celebrates Kyrgyzstan’s Independence Day

Batken marked Kyrgyzstan’s 35th anniversary of independence with a program combining official ceremonies, local commerce, music and traditional sports.

The celebrations began with flowers laid at monuments to Abdykady r Orozbekov, Ishak Razzakov, Absamat Masaliyev and Murat Salikhov. The gathering also included a Quran recitation in their memory.

At Batken’s central stadium, a fair presented work by local artisans alongside agricultural and industrial products from the region. Goods made by participants in the Social Contract project were also displayed.

A parade brought together district administrations, municipal bodies, companies, institutions and athletes. Spectators were shown official and municipal service vehicles. Residents received greetings from Baktybek Toksonbayev, the first deputy presidential representative in Batken Region, Batken Mayor Seitek Kulubayev and Akim Danil Imanaliyev. Representatives of Uzbekistan and Tajikistan also delivered congratulatory remarks.

The program continued with a concert featuring Kyrgyz pop stars, artists and local creative groups. Theatrical performances focused on the country’s history, the value of independence and national unity. Competitions in Kyrgyz kuresh, tayak tartysh and tug-of-war were also scheduled, with winners set to receive diplomas, medals and valuable prizes.
