Paraguay begins August payments for veterans and elderly beneficiaries Monday

Paraguay's Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF) announced that the payment schedule for August salaries and social benefits will commence on Monday, August 24. The ministry confirmed that the initial disbursements will be made to veterans, pensioners, and recipients of the Elderly Persons Program.

The Elderly Persons Program is noted as one of the government's most significant expenditures. As of July, the program had disbursed G. 1.8 trillion (approximately US$ 308 million). Each beneficiary of the Universal Pension for Elderly Persons receives a monthly amount of G. 724,762.

Following these initial payments, retirees from the Fiscal Pension Fund are scheduled to receive their August earnings on Tuesday, August 25. The MEF, through the Directorate General of Public Treasury, has established a calendar for these payments. The Fiscal Pension Fund currently registers 73,632 retirees and 12,480 pensioners.

The payment schedule continues throughout the week, with administrative staff and Ministry of Public Health and Social Welfare personnel receiving salaries on Wednesday, August 26. Disbursements for the Armed Forces, Judiciary, and Governors' offices are set for Thursday, August 27. Public servants from the Ministry of Education and National Universities will be paid on Friday, August 28.

Finally, the MEF detailed that all pending personal service payments will conclude on Monday, August 31. The ministry also reminded state entities that payments are contingent upon the timely submission of Resource Transfer Requests (STR).
