Paraguay braces for cold snap with rain and falling temperatures

Paraguay is experiencing a significant shift in weather as a polar air mass brings a noticeable drop in temperatures, particularly in the southern regions. The Directorate of Meteorology and Hydrology (DMH) officially announced the arrival of a cold front, signaling a gradual but marked decrease in warmth.

Residents can expect predominantly cold to cool conditions with mostly cloudy skies and persistent southerly winds. Automatic monitoring stations have already recorded chilly dawns in the eastern region's southern departments, with real minimum temperatures hovering between 11°C and 12°C (52-54°F). Elsewhere, temperatures have remained cool, ranging from 13°C to 18°C (55-64°F).

Looking ahead, forecasts indicate that minimum temperatures could plummet to as low as 6°C (43°F) in the coldest parts of the country by Monday. Maximum temperatures are expected to struggle, barely reaching 22°C (72°F) even in the warmer Occidental region. The good news for many is that the probability of rain will significantly decrease from Monday onwards, ushering in dry, sunny, yet cold days that are predicted to last at least until the middle of next week.
