Paraguay braces for critical frost as temperatures plummet

Paraguay is bracing for a significant cold front that will bring a drastic drop in temperatures and critical frost conditions, according to the Directorate of Meteorology and Hydrology (DMH). While Friday and Saturday offer pleasant weather with highs reaching 25°C in some regions, the situation will change dramatically within 48 hours.

The transition begins Sunday with the arrival of southerly winds, but the most severe impact will be felt from Monday afternoon. Meteorological maps show a rapid spread of deep blue, indicating a severe thermal decline. Temperatures could reach 7°C on Monday, with the peak of the phenomenon expected during the early hours of Tuesday and Wednesday.

Projections indicate minimum temperatures could fall between 0°C and 3°C in some areas, and 3°C to 7°C in others, affecting both the Oriental and Occidental regions. The DMH warns of critical frost conditions mid-week. This intense cold is expected to persist until at least Wednesday before the polar air mass slowly begins to withdraw.

The DMH strongly advises citizens to reinforce their clothing, especially for children and the elderly. Furthermore, authorities urge the protection of crops and animals due to the imminent risk of frost, which could directly impact sensitive agricultural production. The Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (MAG) has activated a plan to mitigate these risks.
