Paraguay marked its Independence Day with a reception at its embassy in Jerusalem, an event that underscored the deepening ties between the two nations. Ambassador Alejandro Rubin used the occasion to articulate Paraguay's unwavering support for Israel, stating that the country's decision to establish its embassy in Jerusalem was a testament to its belief in Israel, its commitment to its word, and its understanding of genuine friendship demonstrated through actions.

The reception brought together prominent figures, including Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar, Knesset members, diplomats, and representatives from various organizations, lending the event the weight of a significant diplomatic statement. Ambassador Rubin drew parallels between Paraguay's independence, which began on May 14, 1811, and Israel's declaration of independence on May 14, 1948. He noted that both nations, born from different historical contexts, affirmed their right to self-determination and freedom.

Rubin further highlighted the coincidence of Paraguay's national celebration with Jerusalem Day, suggesting that some connections are not manufactured but naturally exist. He described Jerusalem as more than just a capital, embodying memory, faith, history, identity, and the future. He asserted that Paraguay's stance in Jerusalem is not directed against any other nation but is a firm affirmation of historical truth and sincere friendship. "Peace is not built by asking a people to hide its history, to hide its identity, or to put aside what is essential to its national soul," Rubin stated. "Peace is built when people truly recognize each other."

Rubin outlined Paraguay's foreign policy pillars as the United States, Taiwan, and Israel, characterizing this alignment as a reflection of a nation that prioritizes loyalty and values over immediate economic expediency. He also referenced Paraguay's own history of national trauma, particularly the 19th-century War of the Triple Alliance.
