Paraguay: Patients denounce long waits at IPS Campo Vía emergency room due to doctor shortage

Patients at the IPS Campo Vía clinic in Capiatá, Paraguay, voiced frustration over extended waits in the adult emergency room on Tuesday. They reported that a single doctor was attending to more than 50 patients, causing significant delays for individuals seeking care for respiratory conditions and other urgent ailments.

One patient, Daniel Ferreira, stated that the situation is frequent and urged authorities to hire more doctors to improve service speed. He noted that many patients arrived at midday and were still waiting into the afternoon, highlighting the impact of these delays on those who cannot afford to wait for hours.

However, Alba Ramos, the director of the clinic, countered the claims. She asserted that the emergency service currently has four doctors on duty: two for adult care and two for pediatrics. Ramos also mentioned that the service includes two observation rooms with a total of ten beds, five for adults and five for pediatric patients.
