Paraguay Police Executed in Brutal Attack, Autopsy Reveals

Autopsies on two police officers and a civilian killed in an attack on a police station in Canindeyú, Paraguay, reveal they were brutally executed. The forensic examination detailed the horrific violence inflicted upon the victims, painting a grim picture of the incident.

One of the slain officers, Sub-Officer Inspector Herminio Ojeda González, 33, sustained three wounds to his back, possibly from shrapnel. However, the fatal blow was a gunshot to the mouth. Forensic doctor Pablo Lemir stated that Ojeda was still alive when a firearm was placed in his mouth and discharged, characterizing the act as a clear execution.

The other officer, Sub-Officer Major Atilio Martínez Barrios, 40, suffered a gunshot wound to his right armpit, causing fatal hemorrhage, and a second shot to the head, described as a "tiro de gracia" or mercy shot. Both officers were reportedly subdued when they were killed, and their bodies also showed second and third-degree burns.

The third victim, local resident Josemar Escobar Piris, 37, was accompanying the officers at the time of the attack. His autopsy was scheduled for the following day. Authorities are reportedly pursuing leads on potential suspects involved in the assault on the Naranjito police post.
