Paraguay's 2026 Clausura tournament kicked off with a high-scoring first matchday, producing a total of 12 goals across six games. The opening round saw mixed results for some of the league's traditional powerhouses.

Cerro Porteño suffered a 2-1 loss to Sportivo Trinidense, while Libertad secured a narrow 1-0 victory over Olimpia. These defeats mark a significant start to the tournament for the historically strong clubs, who are looking to contend for the title.

Other results from the first matchday include 2 de Mayo's 1-0 win against Rubio Ñu, Recoleta FC and San Lorenzo drawing 1-1, Sportivo Ameliano and Nacional also playing to a 1-1 tie, and Sportivo Luqueño defeating Guaraní 2-1.

This marks the first time in three years that both Olimpia and Cerro Porteño have lost their opening matches of a tournament. The league will now look ahead to the second round, which is set to commence on Tuesday, July 28, and conclude on Thursday, July 30.
