Paraguay's 500 kV Yguazú–Valenzuela transmission line project 65% complete

The construction of Paraguay's new 500 kV Yguazú – Valenzuela transmission line has reached a 65% overall completion rate, according to the National Electricity Administration (ANDE). This progress encompasses civil works, electromechanical assembly, and the supply of necessary materials for the project's finalization.

The project of construction of the new 500 kV Transmission Line (LT) Yguazú – Valenzuela registers a global advance of 65%, result of the development of civil works, electromechanical assembly and the provision of materials and supplies necessary for its culmination.

The project, initiated under International Public Tender ANDE No. 1684/2022 and awarded to the Rieder – INCOMISA Consortium, represents an investment of approximately US$94.5 million. Its primary goal is to bolster the country's electrical transmission infrastructure.

Work is currently progressing simultaneously across various strategic points along the transmission line's route. Crews are focused on foundations and the assembly of metal structures in sections 3 and 4, while preliminary tasks for conductor and ground wire stringing are underway in sections 1 and 2. Additionally, final assembly of anchoring towers is being completed in the Repatriación and Campo 2 areas of Caaguazú department, as well as in Yguazú, Alto Paraná department, moving the project closer to its final phase.

This new transmission line will connect the Yguazú and Valenzuela substations. ANDE highlights its strategic importance in strengthening the National Interconnected System (SIN). The project is expected to increase electricity transport capacity, enhance service reliability, and support the country's growing energy demand.
