Paraguay's Julio Enciso injured in friendly, raising World Cup doubts

Paraguay's World Cup preparations suffered a significant blow as key attacker Julio Enciso was forced off the field with an apparent muscle injury during a friendly match against Nicaragua.

The 25-year-old Racing Club de Strasbourg player left the pitch in tears after just 25 minutes of play. Enciso sustained the injury following a strong challenge with an opponent near the left sideline. He indicated pain in his right hamstring and received attention from the medical team before being assisted off the field.

Enciso's injury is a major concern for Paraguay, as he was expected to be a starter for their World Cup debut. The team is scheduled to face co-host United States in their opening match on July 12, part of Group D. Paraguay's subsequent group stage matches are against Turkey and Australia.

Mauricio Magalhães Prado was brought on as Enciso's replacement. The injury casts a shadow over Enciso's participation in the tournament, which Paraguay returns to after a 16-year absence.
