Paraguay’s Senate to consider 15 items in Wednesday session

Paraguay’s Chamber of Senators will consider 15 items during its ordinary session on Wednesday. The agenda combines requests for information from public institutions with proposed changes in several areas of public policy.

Among the measures is a bill amending provisions of the 2024 Law on Police Reform and Modernization. The Senate had already given the proposal initial approval, but the Chamber of Deputies introduced changes, requiring senators to review it again.

Senators will also examine a proposal to amend the system for auctioning abandoned vehicles. The bill would authorize municipalities to initiate proceedings, either on their own initiative or at the request of an interested party, before the courts.

Other proposals address fuel-price and market-cost transparency, driving licences for people with hearing disabilities, electronic notifications and electronic management of judicial proceedings. The agenda also includes bills concerning insurance, promissory notes, blood donation, and the regulation of the production, distribution, sale, import and export of herbal drugs and preparations.
