Paraguay Senate Opens Tender for Ombudsman Candidates

Paraguay's Senate has initiated a public tender to fill the crucial roles of Ombudsman and Deputy Ombudsman, opening applications until August 10. This process, formalized by Senate President Basilio “Bachi” Núñez, aims to establish candidate slates in compliance with the National Constitution and the Organic Law of the Ombudsman's Office.

The selection process is designed to uphold principles of transparency, publicity, equal opportunity, and suitability. Candidates aspiring to be Ombudsman must meet the same requirements as a national deputy, while Deputy Ombudsman candidates follow the specific organic law. Essential application documents include a national identity card copy, criminal and police background certificates, and an updated curriculum vitae.

All applications must be submitted virtually through the official Senate website, www.senado.gov.py. Applicants will need to complete an electronic form and upload required documents in PDF format. Following the digital submission, candidates will be called upon by the Constitutional Affairs Commission to present original documents in person. The call for applications will also be published in national newspapers and on the Senate's official channels to ensure broad dissemination.
