Paraguay: Senator Seeks Data on Judicial Garnishments Against Asunción Employees

Senator Rafael Filizzola has formally requested that the Municipality of Asunción disclose comprehensive data regarding judicial garnishments imposed on its employees. The inquiry, submitted as an official request for information, seeks to shed light on the extent of these legal actions against municipal workers between 2015 and 2026.

Filizzola's request specifically asks for details on the number of garnishment orders received by the municipality, the total amounts deposited into judicial accounts, the beneficiaries of these funds, and the internal control procedures employed by the city government. This detailed information is crucial for understanding the financial and administrative implications of these garnishments.

The initiative comes ahead of the municipal elections scheduled for October 4th. Filizzola's political party supports Soledad Núñez, a candidate in the opposition alliance running against the ruling Colorado party's candidate, Camilo Pérez. The senator's request aims to provide transparency regarding public funds and the financial standing of municipal employees.

Furthermore, the senator seeks to identify all judicial accounts where the municipality has made deposits due to garnishments, including specifics like account numbers, banking institutions, courts, case files, claimants, and the total amounts involved. The request also extends to identifying individuals and companies that have received funds from these garnishments, as well as copies of all internal regulations governing the processing of such orders.
