Paraguay to promote AI, clean energy, and digital infrastructure at Silicon Valley forum

Paraguay is set to promote itself as a hub for next-generation artificial intelligence, clean energy, and digital infrastructure at a strategic forum in Silicon Valley. Minister of Industry Marco Riquelme, accompanied by the Paraguayan-American Chamber of Commerce (Amcham), will attend the event on June 26-27 in San Francisco, California.

The forum, hosted in the heart of global technology and innovation, aims to position the Republic of Paraguay as a key player in these burgeoning fields. This initiative aligns with President Santiago Peña's administration's broader goals for technological advancement and economic development. The government recently solidified a partnership with Taiwan through a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to establish what is planned to be the world's largest artificial intelligence center in Paraguay.

This ambitious AI center, designed to operate similarly to the binational Itaipu hydroelectric power plant, is projected to have a final capacity of 1,000 MW. This would significantly surpass the power output of existing facilities like Acaray. Additionally, Paraguay is developing its own "Silicon Valley" with the establishment of the Taiwan Paraguay Polytechnic University (UPTP) within the Paraguay Digital District. These developments underscore Paraguay's strategic push into advanced technologies and sustainable energy solutions.
