Paraguay Waives Toll for One Day to Facilitate WRC Rally

President Santiago Peña has signed a decree establishing a temporary, zero-value toll at the Trinidad checkpoint in the Itapúa department. This special transit fee will be in effect on Saturday, August 29, 2026, specifically to accommodate the "WRC Rally del Paraguay 2026."

The decree, signed on August 21, acknowledges that the international rally event will significantly increase vehicle traffic in the affected area. This includes competition vehicles, teams, and both domestic and foreign tourists. The government aims to prevent traffic jams and ensure smooth transit along the national route PY06, in accordance with Article 41 of the National Constitution.

Given the expected large influx of spectators and competitors, and the substantial social and economic impact of this international event, the executive branch has implemented this temporary measure. The zero-value toll applies to all motor vehicles passing through the Trinidad toll station, located at kilometer 26 of national route PY06, which is managed by the Ministry of Public Works and Communications.

This special toll-free period will run from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM on Saturday, August 29. The decision draws on the experience of the 2025 edition of the rally, which saw considerable attendance from fans and competitors, requiring extensive organizational infrastructure. Last year, a similar measure was in place for a longer duration, from Thursday, August 28, to Sunday, August 31, during daylight hours.
