Paris: Cyclist in critical condition after collision with RATP bus in 13th arrondissement

A 64-year-old cyclist is fighting for his life after a collision with a RATP bus in Paris's 13th arrondissement on Tuesday evening. The incident occurred around 9:30 p.m. at the intersection of Boulevard Masséna and Rue Fernand Widal.

Emergency services performed CPR on the cyclist at the scene before he was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. The bus driver, born in January 1985, was unharmed and passed alcohol and drug tests, which were negative. The driver's license was reportedly in good standing.

An investigation into involuntary injury caused by a driver has been launched by the Paris prosecutor's office. Preliminary information from a source close to the investigation suggests the bus was turning onto Rue Fernand Widal from Boulevard Masséna when the cyclist, who was ascending the same street, collided with the bus's front right wheel.

RATP had not confirmed the details of the incident at the time of reporting. The Service de traitement judiciaire des accidents (STJA) is handling the investigation.
