Park Geun-hye Meets Ruling Party Lawmakers, Urges Them to Perform Well Amidst Difficulties

Former President Park Geun-hye met with about 15 lawmakers from the ruling People Power Party in Ulsan on Tuesday, encouraging them to fulfill their roles effectively amid national and party challenges. "The party is in a difficult situation, and it is regrettable that as a minority party, it cannot fulfill its role properly," Park reportedly said during a dinner meeting. She stressed the importance of listening to citizens and seizing opportunities by performing well. "The country is in a difficult situation, so please do your job well so that the people do not lose hope," she urged. "If the basic framework of the country is shaken, the people and those engaged in their livelihoods will suffer. Please fight actively." One attendee described Park's remarks as a call for the opposition to "fight well against the unreasonable rampages of the ruling party." The gathering was reportedly organized to express gratitude for the lawmakers' support during the recent local elections. Park, who had largely withdrawn from public life since her impeachment in 2017, has recently resumed public activities, campaigning for conservative candidates across the country with a message of "conservative unity." The meeting included lawmakers from the Busan, Ulsan, and Gyeongnam regions, as well as some from Daegu, Gyeongbuk, and Gangwon. Former Busan Mayor Park Hyung-joon and former Ulsan Mayor Kim Duk-kyum, who lost in the local elections, also attended.
