Park Geun-hye to visit Daegu market and Suseong Pond with Chu Kyung-ho on May 31

Former President Park Geun-hye is set to make another appearance in Daegu, this time visiting Seomun Market and Suseong Pond with People Power Party mayoral candidate Chu Kyung-ho on May 31. This move is seen as a significant effort to bolster Chu's campaign in the highly competitive Daegu mayoral race, where he faces off against Kim Boo-kyum of the Democratic Party.

The visit, which will also include Park's close associate, lawmaker Yoo Young-ha, highlights the strategic importance of Daegu, Park's political base and place of residence. Seomun Market, in particular, has been a symbolic location for politicians during election periods, with Park herself visiting it during critical moments in her political career, including after a fire in 2016 and again before last year's presidential election after an eight-year hiatus.

This marks Park's latest effort in a series of campaign appearances across the country since May 23, where she has been supporting People Power Party candidates. Her active campaigning in Daegu, a region where the Democratic Party candidate is posing an unusually strong challenge, is interpreted as an exceptional move to solidify her political influence and support her party's standing in a crucial election.
