Park Na-rae's former manager arrested over alleged extortion and embezzlement

A former manager of South Korean comedian Park Na-rae has been arrested and transferred to prosecutors on charges including attempted extortion and embezzlement. The individual, identified by the surname Shin, is accused of demanding a substantial sum from Park's agency by threatening to release fabricated information.

According to reports, Shin and another former manager, identified only as Mr. A, allegedly claimed that Park misused company funds for personal expenses, including payments to a former boyfriend. They reportedly demanded 10% of the company's projected revenue for 2024, threatening to expose these alleged misdeeds to prevent them from becoming public.

Shin is also facing accusations of embezzling approximately 30 million Korean won (about $22,000 USD) from company funds. Park's agency, Anda Park, stated that they had been investigating the former managers' claims when they discovered evidence that one individual had established a private corporation and diverted funds into it.

Mr. A is being investigated for attempted extortion without detention. The legal proceedings highlight a significant dispute between Park's agency and former employees, involving allegations of financial misconduct and threats.
