Park Sol-moe wins 27th Lee Hyo-seok Literary Award for 'Apple'

Writer Park Sol-moe has been selected as the grand prize winner of the 27th Lee Hyo-seok Literary Award for her short story 'Apple.' The announcement was made on July 20.

The award, established in 2000 to commemorate the renowned Korean writer Lee Hyo-seok, annually recognizes outstanding mid-length and short stories published in domestic online and offline literary magazines from May of the preceding year to April of the current year. Park, who debuted in 2009, has previously published collections such as 'What Shall We Sing?' and 'From Yeongneung,' as well as novels like 'Animal of Silence' and 'Practice for Future Walks.'

This year's grand prize comes with a 50 million won reward. Additionally, Seong Hye-ryeong, Lim Sol-ah, Jang Hee-won, Jeong Gi-hyeon, and Hwang Si-un received the excellence award, each earning 5 million won. The award ceremony is slated to be held next month at the Lee Hyo-seok Memorial Hall in Pyeongchang, Gangwon Province.
