Parking oddballs: Cars left at stops in Bishkek, hindering buses

Illegal parking is causing significant disruption in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, with residents increasingly sharing photographic evidence of vehicles obstructing public transport and pedestrian areas. The issue highlights a widespread disregard for traffic regulations, leading to traffic jams and inconvenience for commuters.

Citizens have reported numerous instances of cars being parked improperly. One complaint detailed a "spontaneous parking lot" set up at a bus stop on the intersection of Zhibek Zholu Avenue and Kurmanjan Datka Street, directly impeding buses. Another resident from Osh shared a photo of a vehicle parked directly on a bus stop on Isaanov Street, blocking access for people waiting for public transport.

Beyond bus stops, vehicles are also being left on pedestrian crossings and sidewalks. Photos show a car parked on a crosswalk at the intersection of Ryskulov and Akiev streets, and another instance where cars on Navoi Street in Osh completely blocked the sidewalk. The problem extends to luxury vehicles, with one report noting a "special parking spot for a Lexus" at the intersection of Suyumbayeva and Frunze streets. The ongoing issue prompts citizens to report violations via WhatsApp, seeking intervention to improve traffic flow and public space accessibility.
