Parliament Speaker Kurtulmuş to tour parties for 'framework law' support

Turkish Parliament Speaker Numan Kurtulmuş is set to embark on a tour of political parties to discuss a significant piece of legislation before the parliament adjourns for its recess. The primary objective of these visits is to foster consensus and secure support for a "framework law" that is anticipated to be presented to the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM).

The schedule for Kurtulmuş's tour includes meetings with leaders of various political factions. He is expected to visit the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) on Tuesday, following their group meeting, to meet with Chairman Devlet Bahçeli. Subsequently, Kurtulmuş plans to visit the DEM Party after their group meeting as well.

Further engagements are planned for Wednesday, with visits scheduled for the Justice and Development Party (AKP) and later for the Republican People's Party (CHP) and the New Welfare Party (Yeniden Refah Partisi). Throughout these meetings, Kurtulmuş intends to engage in discussions regarding the draft framework law, seeking broad agreement for its passage.

Ayşegül Doğan, spokesperson for the DEM Party, previously indicated awareness of Kurtulmuş's planned visits, suggesting that the Parliament Speaker would be well-informed about the draft legislation. The initiative underscores Kurtulmuş's commitment to collaborative legislative processes, aiming to ensure that key laws are enacted through widespread political agreement rather than partisan division.
