Parma bets on Argentine goals again: sold Mateo Pellegrino and replaced him with David Romero and Thomas De Martis

Fiorentina has secured the services of promising Argentine striker Mateo Pellegrino, acquiring him from Parma for a reported 24 million euros, which includes a fixed fee and performance-based bonuses. The 24-year-old, who netted 15 goals for Parma during his two-year stint, has signed a five-year contract with the Florence-based club.

Pellegrino expressed his excitement about joining Fiorentina, a club he described as having "a grand history" and having hosted "great players." He is eager to contribute and help the team achieve its goals. "I want to do even better [than with Parma]. I try to give my best every day; to be better as a person and as a player. And now, to help Fiorentina to the maximum," he stated.

He chose the number 32 jersey, which he wore during his debut with Vélez and also at Parma, considering it a lucky charm. Pellegrino emphasized his commitment to playing with intensity and working for his teammates, in addition to scoring goals. He also mentioned that fellow Argentine Franco Mastantuono, who also joined Fiorentina this season, was one of the first to reach out to him.

Reflecting on Argentine legends who have played for Fiorentina, Pellegrino immediately thought of Gabriel Batistuta. "The first one that comes to mind is Gabriel Batistuta. He did so much here! We'll see if I can do some of the things he did," he said, expressing his admiration for the iconic striker.

Meanwhile, Parma has moved swiftly to fill the void left by Pellegrino's departure. They have signed David Romero from Tigre for eight million euros and brought in young talent Thomas De Martis on loan from Lanús, with a purchase option tied to specific objectives.
