Partai Ummat Congratulates Gus Kikin on His Election

Partai Ummat has welcomed Gus Kikin’s election as the new chairman of Indonesia’s Nahdlatul Ulama, one of the country’s major Muslim organizations. The party’s acting chairman, Ustaz Ansufri Idrus Sambo, and its Shura Council chairman, Amien Rais, issued the congratulations.

KH Abdul Hakim Mahfudz, widely known as Gus Kikin, was formally elected to lead the NU executive board for the 2026-2031 term. He received 472 votes, the highest total among the candidates, during the fifth plenary session of NU’s 35th congress.

Therefore, I and the chairman of the Partai Ummat Shura Council, Amien Rais, together with all Partai Ummat officials throughout Indonesia, congratulate KH Abdul Hakim Mahfudz, also known as Gus Kikin, on his election as chairman of NU for the 2026-2031 period.

Sambo described the result as exceptional because Gus Kikin was chosen through the Ahlul Halli Wal Aqdi mechanism. He also highlighted Gus Kikin’s family connection to NU, noting that he is the great-grandson of the organization’s founder, Hadratussyaikh KH M Hasyim Asy’ari.

In Jakarta on August 31, 2026, Sambo wished the incoming chairman success in guiding NU over the next five years. He prayed that Gus Kikin would receive God’s blessing in carrying out the role.

Sambo said he hoped NU would promote unity and brotherhood in Indonesia, particularly among Muslims. He also expressed hope that the organization would become more cohesive and united, with its main purpose remaining service to society and the welfare of the community.
