Partial closure of Chorrillos avenue announced for road renewal

The Municipality of Chorrillos announced a partial closure of a key section of Guardia Civil Avenue, beginning July 27, to undertake essential road renovation work. The measure is being implemented in the La Campiña urbanization.

Traffic will be restricted on the stretch between Los Gorriones street and Tolomé Avenue, specifically in the direction of the Óvalo de La Curva. The closure will be in effect daily from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. This phase involves the application of a new asphalt layer following the completion of milling work.

Municipal traffic personnel will be stationed in the area to assist with vehicle flow and ensure the safety of both drivers and pedestrians during the construction period. The project encompasses the maintenance of five distinct sections along Guardia Civil Avenue, addressing areas that have reportedly not received upkeep for over five years.

According to the municipality, the renovation is necessary due to the road's deterioration, which has led to surface and deep-seated faults that impede traffic. Beyond the new asphalt, the plan includes the installation of updated horizontal and vertical signage. These improvements are intended to enhance road safety, minimize accident risks, and extend the lifespan of the infrastructure. The municipality also stated that the work will help reduce pollution stemming from the road's poor condition.
