PASOK Criticizes Government Over Recovery Fund Projects

The Greek opposition party PASOK has launched a strong critique against the government, accusing it of mismanaging the Recovery Fund and the "Greece 2.0" program. According to the party's parliamentary representative, Pavlos Geroulanos, government officials have repeatedly removed projects from these crucial funding initiatives, even during the summer period.

These defunded projects span vital areas including healthcare, education, social cohesion, and culture. Examples cited include the cancellation of a preventative health screening program for remote areas, reduced support for the digital school initiative, efforts to reintegrate vulnerable groups, and the modernization of archaeological museums. PASOK asserts that no official explanations have been provided for these removals, which they view as a significant loss for the country.

For none of these cases has an official explanation been given for the reasons for delisting.

The party further points to a reduction in goals or complete delisting of most "Greece 2.0" actions. They claim the government is evading accountability and failing to disclose its initial commitments. A specific instance involves energy storage projects, where the initial target of 1,555 MW by the end of 2025 has been reduced to 700 MW. PASOK argues this hinders the full utilization of renewable energy potential, impacting energy independence and household costs.

PASOK's criticism extends to the overall management of the 36 billion euro Recovery Fund, which they deem inefficient. Despite the substantial amount, interventions are described as fragmented, with limited impact on Greek society and the economy. Geroulanos has published a list of 100 problematic cases of project non-completion or delisting from "Greece 2.0" and the Recovery and Resilience Facility, demanding answers from the government.
