Passenger bus clocked at 112 kph on National Highway 1 as Da Nang steps up night checks

A passenger bus traveling at 112 kph on National Highway 1 in Da Nang has prompted the city’s traffic police to intensify nighttime inspections. The recorded speed exceeded the 90 kph limit for the section outside built-up areas.

Traffic police said they recently detected and handled 28 cases involving passenger buses traveling too fast. Eleven of those violations occurred at night, and authorities issued fines totaling about 27.8 million Vietnamese dong.

The Road Traffic Police Team No. 2 is focusing on passenger buses during nighttime patrols along National Highway 1 and provincial road DT619, also known as Vo Chi Cong coastal road. Officers use professional technical equipment to detect suspected violations, then stop vehicles, inspect them and prepare official records.

Police said nighttime speeding carries particular risks because drivers have less visibility and less time to react to vehicles changing direction, obstacles or pedestrians. Empty roads and clear surfaces can also encourage some drivers to become overconfident and exceed the limit. The danger is greater for passenger buses because they carry many people.

Da Nang traffic police urged transport companies and bus drivers to comply strictly with speed regulations. The city’s traffic police department said it would continue nighttime patrols on key routes, focusing on passenger buses and taking strict action against violations.
