Passport for another identity: How Marcin Romanowski could have obtained the document

Marcin Romanowski, a former Polish Deputy Justice Minister sought by the justice system, has informed the court that he possesses a legally issued passport under a different identity. This document, he claims, allows him to travel beyond the European Union's borders.

The circumstances surrounding the acquisition of this passport remain unclear. Prosecutors have stated they cannot confirm the legal basis on which such a document would have been issued to Romanowski. Significant doubts exist regarding whether the conditions were met for him to legitimately use identification that conceals his true identity.

We cannot rule out the variant that it happened even before the escape. It could have been that his colleagues predicted something would happen. And he had a Polish passport issued under another name in this way. They could have simply assumed an evacuation and prepared for it.

Romanowski's defense attorney has declined to disclose how the document was obtained, citing attorney-client privilege. Meanwhile, speculation suggests the passport might have been prepared during Romanowski's time as deputy minister in the previous PiS government, possibly as a contingency for evacuation. A source linked to special services indicated this scenario was plausible, suggesting colleagues might have anticipated future problems for the politician.

However, another politician associated with the parliamentary committee on special services strongly rejected this possibility. This individual expressed disbelief that Polish services would facilitate a false identity for Romanowski, even during the previous government's term. They argued that while the previous administration caused significant damage to state security, organizing such a covert identity for a politician would have been extremely difficult.

A breach in state security, through which others could do various things here widely. However, I don't believe that even in that period it would have been possible to organize a false identity by one of our services for such a person.
