Patria Querida presents municipal candidates, seeks alliances in 43 districts

The Patria Querida party has officially unveiled its candidates for the upcoming municipal elections on October 4, 2026, following its General Assembly. The party also approved its financial report, showing no outstanding debts, and solidified its strategy for territorial reach.

Patria Querida plans to present independent candidate lists in 49 districts across Paraguay and engage in electoral alliances with other political groups in 43 municipalities. The party is backing 11 mayoral candidates and has registered a total of 364 candidates for Municipal Boards, including titular and substitute members.

A significant focus for the party is the capital city, Asunción. Patria Querida has formed a broad coalition named "Unidos por Asunción" (United for Asunción), comprising 15 different political forces, to support Soledad Núñez's bid for mayor. Núñez addressed the assembly, highlighting the deteriorating state of the capital and asserting that "Asuncion cannot stay the same. All Paraguayans deserve a capital we can be truly proud of."

Party president Stephan Rasmussen emphasized the party's goal to establish itself as a constructive opposition force nationwide. Deputy Rocío Vallejo encouraged the council candidates, sharing her experience in the Chamber of Deputies and stressing that significant change is possible through firm representation and consistent daily work, even within a large legislative body.
