PDIP East Java Distributes 485 Sacrificial Cows, Emphasizing Social Care and Solidarity

The Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) in East Java has distributed 485 sacrificial cows to the community through its regional offices, pesantren, mosques, religious organizations, and orphanages. This annual program, according to PDIP East Java Chairman Said Abdullah, is a form of social concern for the less fortunate, particularly those in the informal sector with lower welfare levels.

Abdullah stated that Eid al-Adha is not only a spiritual observance but also a crucial moment for strengthening social solidarity. "Eid al-Adha is both spiritual and social worship. We want small citizens, especially those living in limitations, to still feel the joy and blessings of Eid al-Adha," he said in Surabaya.

The party chairman pointed to the significant economic challenges faced by communities in East Java. He noted that 64.4% of the working population in the province is in the informal sector, exceeding the national average of 59.4%. This means many workers lack stable income and adequate labor protection, such as health insurance, pensions, or severance pay, despite their hard work.
