PDP Guber Candidate Pledges to Deliver Taraba to Tinubu in 2027

Senator Emmanuel Bwacha, the gubernatorial candidate for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Taraba State, has pledged his commitment to ensuring President Bola Tinubu wins the 2027 presidential election by delivering the state's votes. Bwacha, who previously ran as the All Progressive Congress (APC) gubernatorial candidate in 2023, expressed confidence in Tinubu's leadership, calling him the candidate to beat and the best choice for Nigeria's sustainable development and prosperity.

Speaking to journalists in Jalingo after unveiling his running mate, Mr. Aminu Zakari, Bwacha lauded President Tinubu for his "unparalleled courage" in addressing the nation's security challenges. He also commended the president's economic reforms, stating they have significantly helped pull Nigeria back from an "economic precipice." Furthermore, Bwacha highlighted the ongoing infrastructural projects across the country, particularly in the Federal Capital Territory, as evidence of Tinubu's transformative administration. He specifically approved of Tinubu seeking collaboration with the United States to tackle security issues, recalling his own past advocacy for such assistance in the Senate.

In contrast to his praise for the federal government, Bwacha expressed deep concern over the economic situation in Taraba State. He stated that the state continues to suffer from mismanagement and mounting debt, despite substantial revenue inflows from the federal government. "The economy and finances of Taraba State are being mismanaged by the current administration," Bwacha asserted, lamenting that little tangible progress can be shown for the revenue received, while the state sinks further into debt.

Bwacha justified his choice of Aminu Zakari as his running mate, emphasizing Zakari's professional record and public service experience as representative of the leadership the PDP aims to provide. He stressed that Zakari was selected based on competence, experience, and integrity, rather than purely political considerations. "Leadership must always place competence above convenience, character above connections, and service above self," Bwacha stated, adding that Zakari's youth, energy, and zeal would complement his own experience, signaling a focus on the future for Taraba State.
