Senator Orji Uzor Kalu has asserted that President Bola Tinubu should not be held responsible for the current economic hardship and insecurity plaguing Nigeria. Following this, Cardinal John Onaiyekan, Archbishop Emeritus of the Catholic Archdiocese of Abuja, revealed that President Tinubu had disagreed with the bishops' assessment, maintaining that his administration was on the correct path.

Kalu also alleged that some politicians provide the President with a distorted picture of conditions nationwide.
