PDP’s Oluyede, Oyebanji join forces for Tinubu’s 2027 campaign

Dr. Wole Oluyede, the Peoples Democratic Party's governorship candidate for the upcoming Ekiti State election, has met with the state's current Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, signaling a potential alignment for the 2027 presidential election.

Governor Oyebanji came to visit me on June 21, immediately after the election. We discussed Ekiti and how we could all come together as brothers to move Ekiti forward. Today’s (Thursday) meeting is part of returning that visit and paying back the gesture. For me, it is about reciprocity, but more importantly, it is about Ekiti.

The meeting, held in Lagos, was described by Oluyede as a significant development aimed at fostering unity and cooperation for the progress of Ekiti State and President Bola Tinubu's re-election bid. Oluyede stated that the discussion transcended political differences, focusing on "reciprocity, respect and the shared responsibility of Ekiti leaders to contribute to the development of the state."

Oluyede recalled a previous visit from Governor Oyebanji shortly after the governorship election, emphasizing the importance of reciprocating the gesture. "For me, it is about reciprocity, but more importantly, it is about Ekiti," he said, invoking the state's reputation for "Omoluabi" (a Yoruba term signifying good character and integrity). He stressed that political disagreements should not sever the bonds among Ekiti people.

What they know Ekiti for is Omoluabi, and we will forever remain so. Political differences should not destroy the bonds that unite us as Ekiti people.

Having recently declared his support for President Tinubu's re-election, Oluyede announced his intention to mobilize grassroots support across all 16 local government areas of Ekiti State. He plans to lead this campaign personally, alongside his team and members of the Oluyede Progressive Alliance for Renewed Hope Agenda (OPARHA), engaging directly with communities.

I want us to focus on 2027 and how we can win Ekiti for Mr President. To achieve that, everybody needs to come together. Today’s meeting is part of the move and the commitment I made to work with Mr Governor towards the victory of President Tinubu in Ekiti come 2027.

Oluyede urged all political leaders and stakeholders in Ekiti to set aside their differences to ensure a decisive victory for President Tinubu in 2027. The mobilization efforts are intended to involve a broad spectrum of society, including traditional rulers, community leaders, youth, women, professionals, and business owners, underscoring a unified approach to political engagement in the state.

We will go from house to house, village to village and community to community. We are going to speak directly with our people, listen to them and mobilise them for President Tinubu.
