PDP Scolds George for Lashing Leadership

The Nyesom Wike-led faction of Nigeria's Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has sharply rebuked one of its prominent leaders, Chief Bode George, for his recent criticisms of the party's current leadership. The faction accused George of attempting to destabilize the party and undermine its direction.

In a statement released by its National Publicity Secretary, Hon. Jungudo Haruna Mohammed, the party faction dismissed George's televised remarks as the "outburst of a man struggling to come to terms with reality." They asserted that the PDP has decisively moved beyond an era where a select group of self-appointed power brokers dictated the party's fate for their personal benefit.

The PDP faction suggested that George's frustration stems from the emergence of a new leadership focused on fostering internal democracy, transparency, and generational renewal within the party. They characterized his television appearance as driven by anger, resentment, and personal attacks, rather than constructive engagement with national or party issues.

Furthermore, the statement implied that a politician of George's age and experience should exhibit greater restraint and statesmanship. The faction defended its National Chairman, Abdulrahman Mohammed, asserting that he has provided inclusive and transparent leadership despite navigating inherited political and legal challenges. The party insists George's comments fall short of the expected standards for an elder statesman.
